Since the early days of Christianity, visual art has been a powerful way for the Church to express the deep love of Jesus and the joy of having a relationship with Him. At a time when most people couldn’t read or write, art became a beautiful tool to share the Good News, showing scenes from the Bible and the life of Christ in ways that everyone could understand. Through stained glass windows, paintings, and sculptures, churches were filled with images that brought Scripture to life and helped people feel the love and grace of Jesus. These works of art spoke to the heart, offering hope, comfort, and a reminder that God desires a personal relationship with each of us. More than just decoration, art became a visual expression of faith. Drawing people into worship and helping them see the beauty of God’s story. The Church has used art to celebrate the love of Christ and to invite others to experience the joy of walking with Him.

Project overview
This project is called “Light”, featuring nine pieces of art each representing a different Bible verse about light. Each piece is sown with a low opacity white fabric and small sequin. Special thanks to Mark Baldry (my grandpa) for building the wood frames. Working on this project has been such a gift in my life and I hope they bring you joy.
In the Bible, light is an important symbol that helps us understand God and His ways. From the opening verses of Genesis, where God declares, “Let there be light,” signaling the beginning of creation and light to bring order and life to the world. All through the Bible, light stands for things like truth, goodness, and God’s presence. In the New Testament, where Jesus proclaims, “I am the light of the world,” meaning He shows us the right way to live and helps us see clearly in a difficult world. Light is the opposite of darkness, which often means sin or being far from God. So when the Bible talks about light, it’s often showing how God helps us, guides us, and brings hope.
